SPECIAL MEETING DRAFT MINUTES

MONDAY, MAY 3, 2010, 1:30 P.M.

DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT ECO CENTER,

11 GROVE STREET

SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94102

 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  Acting Director David Assmann, Commissioners Matt Tuchow and Johanna Wald

 

ORDER OF BUSINESS

 

1.      Call to Order and Roll Call.  The Director Search Committee meeting convened at 1:55 p.m.  Present: Acting Director Assmann and Commissioner Tuchow.  Excused: Commissioner Wald.  Commission Secretary Monica Fish was in attendance. 

2.      Approval of Draft Minutes from the prior Department Director Search Committee Meeting. (Discussion and Action)  Upon Motion by Commissioner Tuchow and second by Acting Director Assmann, the April 22 and 23, 2010 Meeting Minutes were approved without objection (AYES:  Commissioner Tuchow and Acting Director Assmann; Excused:  Commissioner Wald). (Explanatory Documents:  April 23 and 23, 2010 Draft and Approved Minutes.)

3.   Public Comments:  Members of the public may address the Committee on matters that are within the Committee’s jurisdiction and are not on today’s agenda.  There were no members of the public present at this time.

4.   CLOSED SESSION – Selection of Candidates for Department of the Environment Director for recommendation to the Commission on the Environment. (Discussion and Action).

a.   Public comment on all matters pertaining to the closed session.  There were no members of the public present at this time.

b.   Vote on whether to hold closed session to discuss and vote on selection of candidates for Department of the Environment Director for recommendation to the Commission on the Environment. (Cal. Govt. Code § 54957; SF Admin. Code § 67.10(b).) [ACTION] Acting Director Assmann motioned, second by Commissioner Tuchow to hold closed session (AYES:  Commissioners Tuchow and Acting Director Assmann; Excused:  Commissioner Wald).

c. Possible closed session to discuss and vote on selection of candidates for Department of the Environment Director for recommendation to the Commission on the Environment. (Cal. Govt. Code § 54957; SF Admin. Code § 67.10(b).) [DISCUSSION AND ACTION] Open Session recessed at 1:57 p.m. to hold closed session.     

d. Reconvene in open session:  Open Session reconvened at 3:23 p.m.

1.  Possible report on action taken in closed session and the vote thereon.  (Cal. Govt. Code § 54957.1(a); SF Admin. Code § 67.12(b).) There was no report given on action taken in closed session.

2.  Vote to elect whether to disclose any or all discussions held in closed session.  (Cal. Govt. Code § 54957.1(a); SF Admin. Code § 67.12(b).)  [ACTION]  Commissioner Tuchow motioned, second by Acting Director Assmann not to disclose any or all discussions held in closed session (AYES:  Commissioner Tuchow and Acting Director Assmann; Excused:  Commissioner Wald).

3.  Public comment on all matters pertaining to the closed session.  There were no members of the public present at this time.

 

5.   Develop Department Director Search Committee Schedule of Meetings. (Discussion and Possible Action)  No additional schedule of meetings was developed at this time for the Department Director Search Committee.  

6.   New Business/Future Agenda Items. (Discussion) The Commission is scheduled to review Department Director Search Committee recommendations of candidates for the position of Department Director at the May 11, 2010 Commission meeting.  A discussion was held on selection of a meeting time for the meeting, which would be decided upon on May 4^th.  Candidates would not be present at the Commission meeting.  The meeting proceedings shall be closed session with the exception of public comment and a commendation Resolution for Commissioner Pelosi Jr.

7.  Public Comments:  Members of the public may address the Committee on matters that are within the Committee’s jurisdiction and are not on today’s agenda.  There were no members of the public present at this time. 

8.  Adjournment.  The Director Search Committee meeting adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
